As a business owner, you take particular steps to ensure the safety of your customers and the occupants of your building. You understand the vital aspects of building management and know that when it comes to the HVAC system, it’s a necessity to be on the lookout for common issues and know how to fix them.
FOUL SMELLS
If there’s an unusual smell in the air, it could be a sign of a dirty air filter, a dirty coil or even a serious gas leak. If your filters are dirty, that’s a simple fix as the air filters in your building should be changed out on a regular basis. Foul smells could also be a result of electrical faults, standing water, mold accumulation, or overheating.
STRANGE NOISES
If your HVAC system has started to make odd noises, there may be a broken fan belt, overheated bearings or a piece of ductwork that has rattled loose. In this case, it’s best to call Crockett Facilities and we’ll diagnose and fix the problem immediately.
DRAIN LINE CLOGS
The drain line is responsible for routing excess water and condensation away from the HVAC unit. Over time they can accumulate dirt and debris, causing clogs. A drain line clog can cause a water backup, leading to leakage and even water damage. Preventative maintenance is imperative in sustaining the life of your system’s drain line.
INCONSISTENCIES IN AIRFLOW
If you need to wear a coat on one floor of your building and strip down to your t-shirt on the other floor, there could be HVAC control issues, air balancing or leaks in your ductwork. When this occurs, it’s best to contact us. We can locate the source of the leak and ensure that the problem is fixed.
A BLOWN FUSE
When your HVAC unit shuts off unexpectedly, don’t reset the circuit breaker until you diagnose the problem. Repeated tripping of the circuit breaker is an indication of a larger system deficiency.
