Even though the spring equinox is only a few weeks away, that doesn’t mean cold weather season is over. You might still need to rely on your commercial electrical furnace to provide your office space with adequate amounts of heat. But if you notice problems with it, then it might be worth to call an HVAC professional to the scene and diagnose what’s going on.
The Filter is Clogged
First of all, check the filter. It’s possible that the filter is clogged. Even if your office is thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis, that doesn’t mean there still can’t be a buildup of dust. If left untouched for too long, the dust will collect on the filters and drastically reduce their effectiveness.
The dust can also cause problems with the blower motor, as we’ll see below. If the blower motor ends up overheating, it can cause the attached to overload and short out. Change out the filters, make sure the commercial electrical furnace is cleaned up, and everything should be almost back to normal. However, there are still several other hazards to keep an eye on, such as a faulty blower motor.
The Blower Motor Fuse is Faulty
One reason a blower motor might not work is because the fuse is faulty. Without a working fuse, your commercial electrical furnace won’t run. When you replace the faulty fuse, Make sure your new fuse isn’t placed in a worn out blower motor. Overworked blower motors need to use more power to run, which will lead to a power failure. You’ll need an experienced HVAC technician to fix the problem.
Water Damage
Take a closer look at the area surrounding the furnace. Is it possible that some water damage is interfering with how well your commercial electrical furnace operates? Water damage is most common when the furnace is hidden inside a crawl space, so be sure to check on it as often as possible.
The Transformer is Blown
What voltage does your commercial building use? The problem could be that the transformer has blown out. The controls, timers, and ignition switches that control the furnace rely on the correct voltage. Too low, and nothing happens; too high, and the entire system will short out.
Wire Problems
Lastly, consider that your building’s commercial electrical furnace is intact. It might even be in perfect working order except for one major issue – the wires are worn out. Wire problems, such as the thermostat control wire being loose, can prevent your furnace from working as it should. By scheduling regular inspections throughout the year, you can ensure that these situations can be avoided.
