Typical Causes of Excessive Noise
Before moving on, let’s look at some of the reasons why your building’s air conditioner could be so noisy in the first place. The ducts could be damaged somehow, or they were installed incorrectly. When the tubes are misdesigned, it could cause even more problems than anyone realizes. The filters could also be clogged by too much dust, dirt, or pollen floating around in the system.
Over time, even the best commercial HVAC systems will need periodic maintenance. If this maintenance is ignored, then parts will come loose, bearings and belts will fail, and electrical components will short out. Fans and coils will also stop working as effectively as they once did, which can, in turn, drive your energy bills up.
Strange Whining and Whistling
This is one sign that your air conditioner is too loud. The ducts aren’t compatible with the other equipment that you’ve relied on for years. It’s also possible that the pipes have been damaged or that the filters are clogged and crying out for relief.

Something could be wrong with one of the motors or screws. Plus, if the AC unit has come undone from its moorings, it will start dancing across the floor like an unbalanced washing machine.

This sound is a sign that the compressors and motors need maintenance. Hire an expert technician to run a diagnostic test to assess the extent of the problem, especially if you hear unusual buzzing noises. This indicates the presence of an electrical issue.
