The arrival of colder weather means it’s time to retask your commercial HVAC system. Whereas before you depended on it to keep you cool during the warmer months of the year, now it will start to get bitterly cold outside. While staying col is a great feeling while you want to sleep, being too cold can prove to be a distraction when you need to get some work done. Here is a better look at how to prepare your commercial HVAC system for the end of the fall and the onset of winter.
Schedule Preventative Maintenance
The importance of preventative maintenance can’t be overstated. All of your machines deserve a tune-up. It doesn’t matter how new they are, either. Even a relatively new unit that is under two years old could still do with some TLC. What this means is that moving parts should receive the proper amounts of lubrication, and any worn-out parts should be removed and replaced with newer ones that won’t interfere with the HVAC system’s efficiency.
Have Smaller Components Inspected
Along those same lines, make sure that the smaller components of your commercial HVAC are thoroughly inspected. The ducts and fan blowers need to be cleaned out from time to time, and you shouldn’t delay much longer. When these parts of the machine are in good working order, your commercial building will be a much more comfortable place to be!
Ensure Heating Units are Functional
Even the best maintenance routines won’t mean much if the heating units fail! The burner, heat exchanger, and fuel lines all need to work to make the system run smoothly. If a connection in the fuel lines is broken or clogged, then it can prevent your system from providing the warmth you expect it to, and that can affect employee productivity and client meetings alike.
Get Air Filters Replaced
Clogged filters negatively impact the indoor air quality of your building. Although it’s recommended that you switch them out throughout the year, during the fall and winter months, it’s worth keeping a closer eye on the condition of the filters. The harder the system has to work, the more likely it will overload!
