The new 40,000 square foot 911 Prince George’s County Dispatcher Center in Bowie, Maryland handles over 1.5 million calls annually using a Computer Aided Dispatch System. So when all three Liebert computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units crashed, the Dispatch Center faced an unusual situation; they were the ones in need of help. The 24/7 call center was unable to coordinate dispatching for the Police Department, 47 Fire Stations, 9 Municipal Police Departments and the Sheriff’s Department.
So who do the emergency dispatchers at the 911 Prince George’s County Dispatcher Center call when they have an emergency? Crockett Facilities Services, Inc.!
Crockett Facilities Services received the emergency call at 4pm and had technicians on-site within the hour. Our technicians quickly diagnosed the problem – all 3 Liebert CRAC units were overcharged with 407C refrigerant. They implemented a temporary solution of evacuating some of the refrigerant to get the data center equipment back up and running.
The next day, Crockett Facilities Services’ technicians performed comprehensive maintenance on all three Liebert units.
- The contaminated 407C was completely evacuated and then recharged back to factory specifications.
- The outdoor coils were cleaned, removing stink bugs that caused false pressure readings.
Following the above maintenance procedures, all 3 Liebert HVAC units were back up and running at peak efficiency.
