Building Operations: Reopening Once the Coronavirus Crisis Has Abated

This means that although building operations need to stop for the time being, eventually everything will go back to the way it was before COVID-19 was so widespread.

Although it doesn’t seem like it, at some point the quarantine and stay-at-home lockdown conditions will lift. This means that although building operations need to stop for the time being, eventually everything will go back to the way it was before COVID-19 was so widespread. Here’s a look at how to reopen once it is safe to do so

Cleaning Different Components

The first step towards resuming normal building operations is to make sure that different components of your HVAC system are cleaned out as rigorously as possible. For instance, this means that the coils and ducts need to be kept clean. Dust, dirt, and debris caught in these system components could carry viral microbes and organisms even if you can’t see them because they are invisible.

Upgrading Filters

The next step is to upgrade the filters in your HVAC system. While having MERV filters is a good first resort, it’s much better to have HEPA filters installed instead. That’s because HEPA filters are much more effective than their counterparts. Speak to the experts at Crockett Facilities to see which one is best for your business in an attempt to get back to routine building operations.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

We cannot overstate the importance of proper cleaning and disinfecting. This goes beyond simply ensuring that the HVAC system itself is clean. All surfaces should be cleaned and disinfected on a routine basis.

Using Ultraviolet Light

Even though the best filters make a difference, the only true way to ensure that your building is ready to reopen is to minimize the chances of Coronavirus spreading. That’s why it is so important to use ultraviolet light or germicidal light as part of your building operations. Adding these upgrades to your HVAC system is an investment that is well worth it. This change improves air quality and also increases the chances of killing submicron microbes. Taking these precautions will reassure everyone who walks into your building – employees, customers, and clients alike – that every possible step is being taken to ensure their safety now and in the near future.
