Now that spring is here, it’s time to take advantage of the opportunities in front of you. If you need to upgrade your commercial HVAC units, then you are in luck! There are plenty of new technologies that can help you improve your building’s energy efficiency and knock down the money you owe on power bills and the like.
New Refrigerant Supplies
Consider this: the old-school R-22 refrigerant is on its way out. That means it’s time to pick a new type of refrigeration instead. Freon has been replaced by a newer counterpart called R410a. It’s much friendlier on the environment, and switching to it will help you avoid fines and other consequences for using a banned substance that has been prohibited.
Increased Energy Efficiency
Also consider this: newer technologies are better for your energy consumption totals. In other words, you will reap the benefits of improved energy efficiency. SEER ratings have changed over the last decade or so, and depending on the age of your system, it may be time to upgrade just based on that one factor alone. Try to get an HVAC system installed that has a rating of 16 or higher. Energy costs will go down, allowing you to allocate that money towards other projects you want to accomplish and best of all, afford to focus on improving indoor air quality and helping everyone perform better!
Improved Fans
Spring and summer bring higher temperatures with them. Even with a lovely breeze outside, that might not always come inside, especially if it is difficult to open and close doors and windows due to design flaws in the building where your business is located. That’s why you should install newer, better fans in your office. Instead of running on full blast all the time, variable speed fans can meet different loads throughout the day, distributing heating and cooling more evenly as needed.
New Compressors
Likewise, it’s a wise investment to get new compressors for your commercial HVAC system. Without a top-of-the-line compressor, your HVAC won’t run the way it is supposed to be – and that’s because the compressor acts as its heart. Think of it this way: your car can’t run without a working engine, so why would you let your HVAC struggle on in the same way without making a change?
