You always want to be sure that your commercial HVAC keeps running smoothly. That’s why you could benefit from commercial HVAC commissioning. If you are a facility manager or property owner and you aren’t familiar with this term, then here is what you’ve got to know about it and why you should consider it for your building.

Post-Construction

Brand new commercial HVAC systems will need maintenance too. Hopefully, this means that any necessary maintenance isn’t too extensive. With post-construction HVAC commissioning in place, you can examine the system for any problems that might already be forming even though your commercial HVAC system just started up within the last year. Poor installation or mishandled startup procedures could lead to early problems that call for post-construction commissioning to fix.

Re-Commissioning

Re-commissioning is similar to post-construction commissioning. However, this service is usually performed on commercial HVAC systems that are now over a year old.

If your commercial HVAC was started up in the last two or three years or has already had some maintenance, then there shouldn’t be any problems. However, the older a commercial HVAC unit gets, the more problems there will be. If left unaddressed, these problems will start to spread until they can hamper the operation of the entire system. As a result, your building will become more uncomfortable due to reduced air flow, inappropriate temperature levels, and poor indoor air quality.

Dealing with Problems

How often do these issues occur? If issues are frequent, then you may need recurring services. The third type of commercial HVAC commissioning deals with problems that keep coming back.

Whether your commercial HVAC unit is making too much noise, or it is running too often, recurrent HVAC commissioning can help you identify the source of the problem. As part of the process, a full system inspection will take place. Any equipment or components that need to be replaced will receive attention and service.

After that, the commercial HVAC unit should be fully functional again. Once it is, you may find that your building is more comfortable, that your HVAC is more energy efficient than ever before, and any errors made during the original installation process have been addressed.
